JOHN 5:1
Heb 13:15 AMP... Through Him, therefore, let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a
sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify
His Name.
John 5:1-3 AMP... LATER ON, there was a Jewish festival (feast) for which Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 Now there is in Jerusalem a pool near the Sheep Gate. This pool in the Hebrew is called Bethesda,
having five porches (colonnades, doorways). 3 In these lay a great number of sick folk — some blind, some crippled, and some paralyzed (shriveled up) — waiting for the bubbling up of the water.
John 5:4-5 AMP... For an angel of the Lord went down at appointed seasons into the pool and
moved and stirred up the water; whoever then first, after the stirring up of the water, stepped in
was cured of whatever disease with which he was afflicted. 5 There was a certain man there
who had suffered with a deep-seated and lingering disorder for thirty-eight years.
John 5:6 AMP... When Jesus noticed him lying there [helpless], knowing that he had already
been a long time in that condition, He said to him, Do you want to become well? [Are you really
in earnest about getting well?
*****LIKE MANY TODAY, HIS EXPECTATIONS OF WHAT JESUS COULD DO FOR HIM,
WERE LIMITED TO WHAT HE BELIEVED WAS EVEN POSSIBLE.
John 5:7 AMP... The invalid answered, Sir, I have nobody when the water is moving to put me
into the pool; but while I am trying to come [into it] myself, somebody else steps down ahead of
me.
John 5:8-9 AMP... Jesus said to him, Get up! Pick up your bed (sleeping mat) and walk! 9
Instantly the man became well and recovered his strength and picked up his mat and walked.
But that happened on the Sabbath.
***YOUR MAT IS NOT YOUR EMBARASSMENT, IT IS YOUR MESSAGE!!!
Rev 12:11 AMP... they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and
by the word of their testimony
*****TAKE YOUR PAST PAIN AND MAKE IT YOUR CURRENT PURPOSE ...
AND YOU GROW FROM THERE ...
1... TRUST GOD’S TIMING ...
Phil 1:6 NKJV... being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you
will complete it.
Jer 29:11-12 NIV... For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper
you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me
and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
2... USE YOUR MAT, IT’S YOUR MESSAGE ...
1 Tim 1:16 NIV... But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners,
Christ Jesus might display His unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on
Him and receive eternal life.
John 3:16- NKJV... (1) For God so loved the world (2)that He gave His only begotten Son,
(3)that whoever believes in Him (4)should not perish (5)but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 NKJV ... For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that
the world through Him might be saved.
